In a program that recently received a nationally competitive Merck Innovation Award, chemistry students at Drew interact with retired eminent industrial scientists, the fellows of the Charles A. Dana Research Institute for Scientists Emeriti (RISE). These fellows continue their researct at Drew and work with Chemistry students. Working one-on one with faculty or RISE fellows students help to conduct independent research, often resulting in honors such as:

Drew chemistry majors learn through hands-on-experience, the operation of the most modern analytical instruments: nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared, ultraviolet-visible and mass spectrometers; a scanning electronic microscope; gas and liquid chromtographs. All instruments are computer controlled.

Chemistry majors may apply and participate in summer research internships, at Drew (DSSI) or at other institutions.
