  Basic Elements of a Drew Syllabus
   
  This page is intended to assist you in creating course syllabi. Included are elements that every syllabus should have, the excused absence policy, information on academic accommodation for students with disabilities, etc. Click on a link to view examples of that element.
   
  Syllabi should include:
 
  • Instructor's name, office number, office hours, and phone number
  • Course goals and objectives, at least some of which should reflect department’s/program’s student learning goals
  • Description of all course assignments and due dates
  • Course schedule with assignments for each day specified
  • A statement about academic integrity
  • A statement about accommodations for students with disabilities (below):
  • "Academic Accommodations: Should you require academic accommodations, you must file a request with the Office of Educational Affairs (BC 114, extension 3327). It is your responsibility to self-identify with the Office of Educational Affairs and to provide me with the appropriate documentation from that office at least one week prior to any request for specific course accommodations.  There are no retroactive accommodations."
  • Statement of grading policy
  • Statement of attendance policy
