Install GroupWise via the Web

Web-based installers for GroupWIse and GroupWise Messenger are available for home use. Use of the GroupWise client at home will require a Windows PC with either Windows 2000 or Windows XP and a broadband internet connection. (cable, DSL, Fios, etc.) If your computer does not meet these requirements, please use WebAccess instead.

Installing the GroupWise Client

  1. Click this link to download the GroupWise web-based installer.
     
  2. When prompted by your browser, select to Save the installer to your computer's hard drive. We recommend you save the installer to your desktop. The file is approximately 60mb and will take several minutes to download over most cable or DSL connections.

  3. Locate the gwsetup file you just downloaded. If you followed the previous step's recommendation, the file should be located on your desktop. Double click the file to run the installer.
     
  4. Click Yes to begin the GroupWise install.

  5. The installer will begin extracting files.

  6. After extracting, the GroupWise installation will begin automatically.

Running the GroupWise client for the first time

The installer should configure the GroupWise Client to connect to Drew's GroupWise system automatically. At the login dialog, you may leave the Address and Port fields blank, however, if you do receive an error message indicating that your GroupWise post office could not be found, please enter the following values for Address and Port:

  • Address: gwpo.drew.edu
  • Port: 1677

Installing the GroupWise Messenger Client

  1. Click this link to download the Messenger web-based install.
     
  2. When prompted by your browser, select to Save the installer to your computer's hard drive. We recommend you save the installer to your desktop.
     
  3. Locate the novlmsgr file you just downloaded. If you followed the previous step's recommendation, the file should be located on your desktop. Double click the file to run the installer.
     
  4. The Messenger installation will begin automatically.
