IBM ThinkPad R40 selected as 20th Computer Initiative Computer
We are proud to announce that Drew University will provide the
IBM ThinkPad R40 laptop computer to incoming College and Theological
School
students
this
fall.
The IBM
ThinkPad
is
the 20th Computer Initiative PC to be distributed, and marks the first
time Drew has selected IBM as a laptop vendor. IBM
is a leader in laptop programs
with its ThinkPad
University program. Many of the other pioneer institutions in ubiquitous
computing participate in the IBM program, and now Drew and IBM are partners
as well.
The 2003 CI computer has the following specifications:
- Intel Centrino laptop with 1.6 GHz Pentium M processor
- 512 MB RAM
- 60GB HDD
- Integrated 802.11b wireless networking
- 10/100 wired Ethernet
- V.92 56Kbps modem
- CD-RW/DVD-ROM modular drive

- 4 year warranty with IBM ThinkPad Protection for accidental
damage coverage

Students will also receive the Epson Stylus C82 printer as part
of the standard package, with the HP LaserJet 1000 laser printer
as an option.
All computers come preconfigured and preinstalled, and are scheduled
to be distributed to incoming College of Liberal Arts students
