Computer Handout 2003

Computing and Network Services distributed 486 computers to incoming College and Theological School students on August 27th and August 30th. 450 of these computers were distributed in a 5 hour period on August 30th, with the help of an automated inventory tracking and computer deployment solution largely developed by E. Axel Larsson and Russell Sprague, as well as the hard work of student and full-time employees led by Betsy Black, Mark Holcomb, and Jason Slipoy. CNS, ITS, and University Technology staff were all on hand to make sure handout went smoothly.

Representatives from IBM were also on hand, and were impressed by the quality and efficiency of our distribution system.

For the first time, students received their computers and had them automatically personalized for them through our eXtreme Deployment system. Nearly every computer distributed has now been successfully deployed and personalized.
