Drew technology to make formidable showing at the ACM SIGUCCS 2004 Fall User Services ConferenceWe are pleased to announce that Computing and Network Services staff members Betsy Black, Axel Larsson, and Russell Sprague have been invited to submit two separate papers to the ACM SIGUCCS Fall User Services Conference. They are joined by Instructional Technology Services staff John Saul and Bryan Gardner, who have also been invited to present. Betsy and Axel will be presenting a paper entitled "A case study: Implementing Support-Works Professional Helpdesk at Drew University," on the selection and implementation of SupportWorks Helpdesk Professional for the University helpdesk. Axel and Russell will be presenting "eXtreme Deployment: Distributing and configuring 450 student laptops in five hours," a paper on Drew's unique computer personalization and deployment technology developed during the summer of 2003, and successfully used in the 2003 student computer handout. Both of these papers reflect Computing and Network Services commitment to providing top-notch service and support to the entire Drew community, and presenting at SIGUCCS will allow us to share information with other universities and increase Drew's profile as a premier liberal arts college in the use of technology. These two submissions are in addition to three papers being submitted by Instructional Technology Services. Bryan Gardner will be presenting a paper on supporting student laptops in a classroom setting, and John Saul will be presenting two papers on the Staff Lab and the Staff Development program. More information on the ITS presentations can be found on the ITS site here. Congratulations to the recipients and best of luck to them in October! |
