Access your files from off-campus using NetStorage
Computing and Network Services is pleased to announce the availability
of Novell NetStorage, a new way to access files located on the network
from off-campus. NetStorage will
be replacing the WebFiles service, although we will continue to support
WebFiles in its current form for at least
the 2004-05 academic year. NetStorage will compliment the FTPFiles service,
which we will continue to offer.
NetStorage offers numerous enhancements over the existing WebFiles
service, including an easier to use browser-based interface, the ability
to salvage deleted files, and the ability to access your files off-campus
from directly within Microsoft Office applications.
If you frequently need to access files located on the Drew network from
off-campus, we encourage to learn more
about NetStorage by looking at our online documentation.
Here are all the ways you can access Drew network files
from off-campus:
- Browser-based NetStorage: Access Drew network files
using any modern web browser. No software installation or configuration
is required. Documentation is
available.
- WebDAV: Access Drew network files from off-campus
directly from within Microsoft Office applications or Windows Explorer,
just as you do from on-campus. Brief configuration of your computer
with the NetStorage WebDAV URL is required. Documentation is
available.
- FTPFiles: Access Drew network files from off-campus
using any FTP client. Documentation is available.
- WebFiles: WebFiles has been replaced by browser-based
NetStorage, however, the existing WebFiles service will continue to
be supported throughout at least the 2004-05 academic year. Documentation is available.
Computing and Network Services is committed to providing remote access
solutions that work for you. Please send us feedback at cns@drew.edu.
