Campus wide e-mail policies and procedures reminder

As the semester is beginning, we'd like to briefly highlight some policies and procedures for sending campus wide e-mail messages.

  • E-mail messages for campus wide distribution can be submitted using the following form: http://depts.drew.edu/cns/enterprise/email/ssm/
  • Due to the volume of messages we normally experience during the academic year, messages are not normally sent during the day but are queued up and sent over night.
  • Messages are normally sent Monday thru Friday nights and not on weekend nights.
  • Messages must be received by 4pm in order to be included in the batch of messages processed over night.
  • Guidelines governing the use of the campus wide lists can be found at http://depts.drew.edu/cns/enterprise/email/ssm/guidelines.php

Please make sure you are familiar with these guidelines if you are planning to send a campus wide e-mail. In particular, please note that messages pertaining to an events being held on campus must comply with Guidelines on Accessibilty for Meetings and Events!!

In addition, please remember:

  • The only attachments permitted to be sent to the campus wide lists are html documents (i.e. web pages). Web pages that are attached may not contain inline pictures or sounds.
  • Due to the volume of messages, we ask you to use restraint with regards to sending reminder messages about events. Over the summer, CNS introduced Community Forums (http://community.drew.edu). This is an excellent place to post information about events, including reminders. Additionally, there is a calendar component to the Community Forums; please feel free to post events on that calendar.
  • Your messages will not be checked for spelling, grammar or accuracy. Please proofread your messages and double check dates and times before sending.
