GroupWise Security Patch
Novell has released an update to GroupWise to correct a potential security issue. CNS has already updated the server-side components to implement this patch, and we are now recommending that all users install the updated GroupWise client. Please see below for instructions to update your computer.
To update your computer:
- If you use the GroupWise client on-campus - Use the Application Explorer. Double click the Application Explorer icon on your desktop, and browse to DREW > Install Software > GroupWise > Novell GroupWise 7 SP2.
- If you use the GroupWise client off-campus - Follow the instructions on this page to download and install the latest release of the GroupWise client.
- If you use a Macintosh or Linux GroupWise client - Follow the links on this page to download the latest release of the GroupWise Cross-Platform Client. Please note that these clients are not officially supported by Drew University.
How can I check to be sure that my GroupWise client is updated?
- From within the GroupWise client go to Help > About GroupWise. Underneath the logo, you should see the text Program Release with a version number of 7.0.2 HP and a date of 6/6/2007. If the release date is earlier than 6/6/2007, then you must update your GroupWise client.
This patch will become mandatory in various phases following this announcement:
- Starting in July, on-campus users who have not updated their GroupWise client will start receiving prompts from the Application Explorer to do so.
- By mid-September, older releases of the GroupWise client will be "locked out" and no longer able to connect to our GroupWise system.
As this update corrects a potential security issue, we recommend that you update your GroupWise client before the mandatory deadline.
Please feel free to contact us at cns@drew.edu with any questions or concerns.
Thank you.
