Web Application Maintenance - Thursday January 29 5pm-6pm

On Thursday January 29 between 5:00pm and 6:00pm, Computing and Network Services will be performing maintenance that will have a brief impact upon all web-based applications and services--including such services as the University web site (www.drew.edu), Moodle, Webmail, CampusWeb, etc. Drew web sites will remain available during that time period, however there will be a few short disruptions where you will be logged out of any Drew web sites that you are logged into.

We are performing maintenance on the Novell iChain system which is responsible for providing secure access to all Drew University web-based applications and services. Like the GroupWise email migration that occurred in December, this project is part of our ongoing effort to reduce the number of physical machines in our datacenter by consolidating these services onto fewer machines by using server virtualization technology. These efforts enable reduced power consumption and air conditioning demand in the datacenter as well provide for improved reliability and manageability of the systems.

The work being done this Thursday is the first step toward moving iChain to virtual servers. The remaining work will be completed in the following weeks and will result in a complete migration of iChain to virtual hardware. These remaining steps will not require any additional disruption in service.

Please don't hesitate to contact us at cns@drew.edu with any questions or concerns.
