Main Screen Explanation

Dreamweaver MX is a powerful web-authoring tool, designed to make the creation of dynamic web pages as easy as possible. This document is intended to give you a brief overview of all of the elements on the main screen when the program opens.

  • Document Toolbar - The Document Toolbar is used to move between page views, set the title of the document, perform common file transfer commands and debug Javascript code.

  • Insert Bar - The Insert Bar is used to create objects like tables, images and layers. The whole bar is organized into tabs.
  • Document Window- this is the window in which your document will be displayed.
  • Welcome Window - The Welcome Window will display only the first time you enter the Dreamweaver MX workspace.
  • Panels Group- Panel groups contain the panels that Dreamweaver MX uses to display/control information on the current document. Panels can be expanded or collapsed as needed.
  • Tag Selector - The Tag selector can be used to select, edit, and remove tags without ever leaving the design view of Dreamweaver..
  • Properties Inspector- The Properties Inspectory displays the most commonly used properties of the object currently selected. For text this includes things like the font and size.
  • Window Size Pop-up Menu- This menu lets you resize the window you are working on to some standard screen resolutions.
  • Answers Panel- The Answers Panel includes links to documentation and tutorials on how to use Dreamweaver MX
  • Site Panel- The Site Panel displays all of the files in the currently defined site you are working on.
