Drew Fencer In Top 10 NCAA Finish
Drew freshman fencer Dana Sanford finished 9th in epee at the NCAA Men’s Fencing Championships held March 27-28 at Brandeis University.
Just the second fencer in Drew’s history to qualify for the NCAA Championships, Sanford placed an impressive 9th, marking the program’s highest-ever finish. He was also one of only two fencers from a Division III school to place in the top 10, and the highest epee fencer from Division III. He was also named an All American.
Twenty four fencers from colleges and universities throughout the country qualified in each of three weapons: sabre, foil, and epee. Despite only having one participant able to score points for Drew, Sanford's 9th place finish was high enough to place Drew 23rd out of 32 teams.
