Drew Grad Wins Research Awards
St. Louis – Drew grad Tricia Missall, an MD/PhD student in the St. Louis University School of Medicine, received two awards at the National Student Research Forum in Texas in April 2003. The Forum was sponsored by the American Medical Association.
Her research on a human fungal pathogen that causes infection in patients with compromised immune systems, won the Cell Biology/Human Genetics Section Award. Competing against 200 participants, she also received the Award for Overall Excellence in Research.
Jennifer Lodge, assistant professor in biochemistry and molecular biology and primary investigator of the pathogen research said: “Tricia is really the best of the best. She’s a second year student, working as part of a larger project, but she deserves all the credit for this great accomplishment.”
