Specialization: Political Theory, Human Rights, International Law Professional Bio: Following his undergraduate education at Calvin College and Seminary, Professor Morsink received advanced degrees from the University of Wisconsin, and then began his career at Drew in 1972 in the Department of Philosophy. His publications on Aristotle's biology stem from these early years. Always having had political philosophy as his first love, in 1992 he moved over to Drew's department of political science, where he teaches courses in the history of political thought, in political theory and in jurisprudence and human rights. He does research in the area of human rights and has published articles on that subject in the Human Rights Quarterly. One critic praised his recently published book, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights Origins Drafting and Intent (University of Pennsylvania Press) as "the definitive work on the drafting of the twentieth century's most important human rights document." In March of 2000, the book was selected to receive the Certificate of Merit for Technical Craftsmanship by The American Society of International Law. Vitae. Courses Taught Spring 2009: Other Info: Hans is a high school drop out, who emigrated from Holland to Canada and from there to the United States in search of adventure and a new start. The anarchic tendencies of his youth still do constant battle with the socialist vision he is trying to develop in what should be his more mature years. This ideological seesaw makes him one of the most unstable persons in the department. Hans loves the open American road (the grander the better), reading biographies (the thicker the better), and swimming laps (the more the better).
