Drew University Telephone System Features (Students)Phone service is provided to all resident students as part of their housing costs. Each resident student receives a separate phone number and phone line. In addition, all resident students receive a Personal Authorization Code (PAC). The PAC enables students to make long distance calls through STC, our long distance provider. For information on calling rates, click here. Information on how to use the student phone system can be found below. Check out our support page if you are having problems with your phone service. Placing a call Placing a call - Dialing Sequence
*Entering the # key is optional for most phone calls (though it is typically necessary when using a fax machine), it just speeds up the process a bit. Because international calls have variable lengths, the phone system does not "know" when you are finished dialing an international number and therefore will wait for several seconds after you've finished dialing before issuing the beep for the auth code. Entering # tells the phone switch that you've finished dialing and forces it to prompt for an auth code immediately. **The Student fax machine in the UC is the only public fax machine on campus that students can fax from (fax machines in university offices are connected to the administrative phone system, which does not have student PAC's programmed into it). Students can also send faxes from their room lines if they have their own fax machine. Your Personal Authorization Code (PAC)Your PAC is a code which uniquely identifies you on the phone system. It provides security for the phone network in the same way your username and password provides security for the data network (the campus LAN). It is also used for billing purposes. All students should receive their PAC via e-mail at the beginning of the Fall semester. Your PAC will not change while you are at Drew. In some cases your PAC may be used as a means to verify your identity. You should never share your PAC with anyone. (Please note, your PAC is NOT the same as your voicemail password. If you change your voicemail password, it will not affect your PAC in any way). Hold
